Gathering of Nations was founded by Derek Mathews and held at the University of New Mexico until 2016 and at Expo New Mexico from 2017, on the fourth weekend of April. It had dance competitions in 36 categories, drum groups, the Miss Indian World pageant, a horse and rider regalia parade and an Indian Traders Market. The organisers announced in August 2025 that the 2026 pow-wow would be its final one.
