Sandia Peak Tramway

The aerial tram from the city’s northeast edge to the top of the Sandias, the longest in the Americas.

The tramway opened on May 7, 1966. Two 55-passenger cars carry riders from 6,559 to 10,378 feet in about 15 minutes, passing over just two towers and across the world’s third-longest clear span. It was the world’s longest aerial tram until 2010, and is still the longest in the Americas. The top terminal sits beside the TEN 3 restaurant, named for the roughly 10,300-foot elevation.
